Dead by Daylight has officially dropped what I think is one of the most unhinged killers yet into the fog: The Animatronic, aka Springtrap from the Five Nights at Freddy’s universe. Yep, the rumours were real. We’re getting full FNaF horror in DBD, and fans of both franchises are absolutely loving it!

Who is Springtrap, & Why is this a Big Deal?

For those who aren’t deep in the FNaF lore: Springtrap is William Afton, the twisted serial killer who gets trapped inside a malfunctioning animatronic suit. It’s metal, it’s mangled, and it’s driven by the one thing Afton’s full of... the intense need to make people suffer So... perfect fit for Dead by Daylight, honestly.

He’s fast, creepy, and has a perk set that’s clearly designed to make survivors suffer. From what we’ve seen so far, this killer isn’t just fan service; it’s genuinely terrifying.

Matthew Lillard in the Studio?! Yes Please.

Here’s the part that got me buzzing. Matthew freaking Lillard, yes, Shaggy, Stu from Scream, and the FNaF Movie's William Afton, came into the Behaviour studio to lend his voice to one of the new cosmetics.

That’s right: one of The Animatronics' legendary skins, 'The Yellow Rabbit', features custom lines voiced by Lillard himself. The man who made “I always come back” iconic just gave us even more nightmare fuel... and I’m so here for it.

What This Means for DBD’s Future

This is a massive win for Behaviour. Collaborating with an IP as huge as FNaF and getting the official actor involved just shows how far Dead by Daylight has come. Between past collabs like Resident Evil, Alien, and Stranger Things, this might be the most fan-requested crossover yet.

And let’s be real: the timing is genius. With the FNaF movie gaining traction due to the second movie coming very soon, the release of 'Secret of the Mimic' and Lillard becoming the new horror king of the franchise, this just feeds the hype loop.

Final Thoughts

I’ve been playing DBD on and off for years, and it’s rare that I see the entire horror community buzzing like this. Whether you’re a survivor main, a killer gremlin, or just here for the chaos. This update is one you don’t want to miss.

My only advice? If you hear mechanical footsteps and creepy chuckling behind you... just run. Fast.

Oh, and keep away from them doors, they may look inviting, but you're one door opening away from being slashed!
